Day & Night

The sunset to me is a metaphor
An exhausted day giving way to night
Confident of the next light
The confidants are the stars
Baring witness to the cycles of the omnivores
As sure as the tide that peeks over the shore
Eroding the cultural moores
Because less is only less when you define more
The night masquerades the eyesore with her star-studded curtain
Inhabited by the lurks and the leaks
The cricket chirps and squeaks
Shadows are shallow and the nights deep
So deep the day stretches to reach
To be greeted by the population of uncounted sheep
Day and night are an enigma to me
